New Fees for CRESA Public Records

On August 1, 2024, the CRESA Administrative Board held a public hearing and received public comment regarding the adoption of a new fee schedule to obtain copies of CRESA records.  During the regular Board meeting later that day, the fee schedule was officially adopted by resolution.

Over the last decade, CRESA has experienced a dramatic increase in requests for public records, going from a total of 2,705 requests received in 2012, to a total of 7,700 received in 2023 representing an increase of 185%.  In addition to the steadily increasing number of requests, the complexity and scope of the requests has also become broader requiring a significant increase to staff time spent on managing requests, technical expertise and review by legal counsel.  These costs related to providing copies of public records are a growing expense for CRESA, and therefore for the taxpayers the agency serves.  The goal of the new fee schedule is to continue to provides full access to public records concerning the agency, while also being mindful of efficient operations, budget resources and administration of CRESA services.    

The CRESA Fee Schedule represents the agency’s actual, allowable costs that can be charged for public records production in accordance with:
