At CRESA, our training team embodies the essence of exemplary performance, serving as a shining example of dedication, resilience, and innovation. The term "exemplary" refers to a model that represents the best of its kind, and our training team consistently lives up to this standard through their collective and individual contributions.

CRESA’s training team represents this.

CRESA’s training team consists of individuals who contribute tremendously on both an independent level but also as group.

This last year CRESA’s Training Program was recertified under APCO’s Project 33 Agency Training Initiative. The program also helped meet the requirements for ACE, and CALEA Recertification.

Despite challenges of staffing, CTOs have trained nonstop since onboarding 18 trainees in 2024. They have helped many trainees successfully navigate the challenges of training. From day to day, they work hard to teach new trainees on how to be effective at their discipline.

Our training team has been very creative, adapting different teaching methods to ensure training success. With limited CTO availability, CTO’s have collaborated with other employees and departments to open up other opportunities for training during on the job-training phase. Some trainers have taken on more than one trainee as to ensure they all receive training. They have created a supportive learning environment by giving encouraging feedback, while at the same time challenging trainees to rise to the occasion.

Our trainers are resilient. Many of them are facing personal obstacles outside of an already stressful job.  They continue to show up. While others may have the ability to train, not everyone has the capacity to train. The space that trainers have to have mentally and emotionally can take its toll as they help trainees navigate their own emotions during the training process. They continue to be of service despite difficult times, working high priority events at work and dealing with obstacles outside of work. This past year trainers have helped their trainee work several major events. They coached, reassured, encouraged, and advocated for their trainees during these stressful events. This allowed trainees to walk away feeling confident in their ability to do their job.

The feedback from trainees on monthly basis highlight CTO’s effectiveness. This has contributed to better morale and trainee success.

Many of our training team hold multiple roles as EMD-Qs and Peer Support. These dual roles show their passion to assist and contribute to the bigger picture. They maintain positive relationships with our user agencies and volunteer to assist with recruitment.

Being a trainer means reaching outside of yourself. It requires you to see the bigger picture, constantly reminding yourself of your “WHY”. They have a passion for helping the public, as well as their community of 911. CRESA’s training team continues to thrive and accept the challenge. They have helped build a foundation of resiliency, which encourages trainees to competently do their job and significantly contributed to the retention of new hires.

Members of the training team not only teach, instruct and guide, but they are continuous students constantly learning. This helps them to navigate their own training, adapting to change and improving their own skills.
